Does anyone know if you can get Civic keys (the kind with a chip in them) programmed anywhere other than the Honda dealership? I am looking for a better deal as I was quoted an $85 programming fee for 1-2 keys and $20.97 for the key itself. Thanks for your help.

You have to go to the dealer, it sucks, but that is your only choice.

Wow. I was quoted $75 a key from the local dealership, but that was for an S2000. The Civic keys may be different, but I doubt it.

I saw some spare keys for civics on Ebay for about $15. The seller says the dealer can sometimes program it complimentary... or a Locksmith can do it as well.. for a fee. Hope that helps..

Sorry, but it's not always necessary to go to a dealer. Check the yellow pages in your phone book under Locksmiths. For example, there are several where I live that will come to your location, cut and program a new key for approximately $75.
