Ok this is to Install a head unit, 2 Subwoofers and an amplifier in a 1992 civic 4door, Its off the top of my head and i'll put pics in later.
What you will need: 1 Head unit with amp pre-outs (pretty commonplace these days, unless you hit up wal-mart and get a Rampage tape deck....) 1 Wiring harness made for a honda civic. 1 roll electrical tape 1 pair wire cutters 1 pair wire strippers 1 Amplifier preferrably 2 channel 2 Subwoofer(s) installed in a box, ported, sealed, bandpass, whatever. 8 Gauge Amp Install Wiring Kit you can find this on ebay for 20.00, DO NOT GO TO BEST BUY AND BUY THE SAME THING FOR 120.00!! misc. tools, zip ties, etc. First off you want to disconnect your positive battery terminal, lord knows what electrical problems you will cause if you leave that thing on there and mess with the electricals. Now, first off starting with the head unit. You are going to want to wire the wiring harness first. The red black and yellow wires are going to be the longest, leave those for last, now 1. Take the harness that came out of the head unit box and lay it out, make sure you notice the stripes and stuff, you dont want to cross wires, being careful and patient here will pay off. 2. Start stripping the ends of each wire, generally i strip about 1 inch off the ends to give me room to play with. 3. Take the wireing harness you bought for the civic, do the same as above, As far as i can remember they should come pre-stripped, you just gotta pull the ends off to expose the wire. 4. Now, all of the wires should be stripped (except for black, yellow, and red). 5. This is where you start twisting the wires together, take one wire from the head unit wire harness, and match it to the wire from the wiring harness you bought, take the ends and twist a good 4-5 times. Use your judgement here, just make sure the connection is tight. (See the Diagram Below to see how you are to fold the twisted wires and then tape them together to ensure that they dont come apart) ![]() Once you have finished wiring all the colors that match, take the remaining 3 and just tape them off at the end, they arent going to be used. 7. Now move on to the black yellow and red wires, and connect them together, only AFTER you have measured them to make sure you have the correct length to move around with, LEAVE THE RED WIRE UNMODIFIED FOR NOW, (trust me, you'll see why.) 8. There are 4 screws you have to remove before you can get your head unit in. 9. Right under the stereo there are 2 screws, remove those, place the left one ont he floor on the left, place the right one on the floor on the right. 10. On the bottom of that column there are 2 smal screws on the left and right that you must remove. (people with the auto perform step 11). 11. Place keys in ignition, and move it to ACC, if you forget and turn it all the way and your car turns on, stop and disconnect your battery..Then Press the brake and place the car in 1, make sure the ebrake is on and working. 12. Now, pry off that bottom plastic piece and move it aside, be careful because the cigarette lighter is connected to that plastic piece, you dont wanna rip that off.. 13. Now you can get to your stock head unit, there should be one screw at the back of the head unit that is holding it in place, unscrew that and voila!, slowly pull the stock head unit forward, move it enough to get your hand back there and unplug the antenna and the factory head unit harness. 14. Yank that underpowered, crapbox you want to call a "stereo" and put it somewhere, who knows when you sell your car you might want to reverse this process and replace the stock stereo one day, anyways. Now you are ready to start installing your head unit. 15. Take the metal sleeve that comes on the new head unit and slide it off. Use a knife or a flat ege or something and be careful. 16. Put the sleeve in the DIN sized slot in the dash, now there should be triangular tabs of metal on the sleeve, bend those as best you can behind the lip on the dash opening. (to prevent theft.) 17. at this pont, the 2 wiring harnesses should be attached together sans the red wire, (yes still, trust me be patient). 18. Now, open the amp wiring kit and take the RCA cable out, plug in the RCA cables into the back of the head unit at thi point along with the head unit end of the wiring harness. 19. Run the RCA cable into the dash opening and towards the drivers side of the car. then slide the head unit into the dash a little bit just in reach of the antenna cable and the factory head unit, now attach the white end of the harness to the factory end of the harness, and attach the antenna. once you are POSITIVE that they are in all the way, push the head unit with the 4 corners (not the middle) until the stereo clicks into the sleeve. 20. You are now done installing the head unit. Now onto the amp.

***********************AMPLIFIER INSTALL****************************
You now need your tools, wire cutters, and time and patience. 1.Take the red power cable from your amp wire kit. Then take a metal o-ring connector from the kit and strip one end of the power wire, i'd say around 1/4-1/2 inch will do the job. Gently cram the o-ring on the cable and make sure it wont go any further. then take the wire cutters, or a wrench whatever you have handy and crimp the metal part of the o-ring onto the cable, finish it off by Taping it very tightly with elec. tape, and connecting it to the battery terminal ring, DONT HOOK IT UP YET. Now run the cable along the firewall across the car to the drivers side of the car. this is where you thank Mr. Honda for inventing this generation of cars. the 92-95 EG civic has a hole in the firewall just big enough for this cable already drilled and everything. Run the non-o-ring side of the cable through this hole. push it through the hole and keep pushing till you get some into your car. (Having a friend here would be handy), other wise grab the wire and pull it all the way back to the trunk of your car. Make sure the trunk is open and the seatback is down, It just makes things easier. Now your part under the hood is amlost done...but for now, time for the interior. Now, take the light blue wire and strip about a 1/2 inch off both ends, take one end and wrap it around the RED HEAD UNIT HARNESS WIRE, see diagram below. ![]() This is the Remote AMP wire, run that carefully behind the pedals and under the carpet along WITH THE RCA CABLES. So at this point you should have the RCA cables, the Remote wire, and the Power cable all sticking out of the driverside of the car, bundle them up over by the hood latch release, and zip tie them together. Make sure they are concealed and not in the way of your feet while sitting/getting in/out of the car. At this point run everything to the trunk of your car, just to see if the cables will reach, most of the time they should, if not you just need to go out and buy longer cables, as a rule anything over 14' will do the job. (I would hope that you have your box with your subs in the trunk of your car by now along with your amp. To make things easier, bolt the amp to your subs, preferrably to a flat side on the back.) Now is another time to bless Mr. Honda, Pull back the kick panels on the door sill, (err...the plastic thing that the carpet is attached to, dunno if thats what its called...) and place the cables underneath it, do this so that the cables go all the way back to the trunk. Now every 6 inches place a zip tie, it'll make things cleaner and easier to manage. At this pont, everything should be done with the interior of the car, as long as the cables are all out of sight, not in the way, and not stretched to the max, you can replace the plastic doorway kick panels and move to the trunk. In the trunk now you should have a few things. 1. Power cable, 1/2 inch stripped off 2. Remote wire 1/2 inch stripped off 3. Red and White( or black) tipped RCA cables 1, 2, 3 Zip-Tied Together. 4. Amp mounted to sub box 5. Sub Box 6. Ground Wire from the Amp Kit, (Brown or black moderatly thick gauge wire) Strip the ground wire at both ends, On one end, put an o-ring connector, on the other a U-connector. repeat the power cable process on each side, crimp and tape tightly, take the end with the o-connector and find a bolt that is attached to the chassis, (try the suspension bolts if all else fails), and connect the side with the u-connector to the part on the amp that says "ground." Now, Start putting the connectors on the other stripped wires. Put a u-connector on the power wire and connect it to the part of the amp that says "power" likewise do the same with the remote. Then connect the RCA cables to the corresponding parts on the amp and then you are done with the amp. Now to keep your subs from flopping around in the trunk, you can do a few things. Personally I have a Dual 12" Bandpass box and I had barely any room to get my box in my trunk, so I removed my spare tire cover, and my spare tire, and the trunk bumper gaurd, and slid the box in like that, then replaced the spare tire, and the cover after the sub was in by shimmying it into place. this left me liek like 1/2 inch of space between the decklid and my box, so i screwed in like 6 2" drywall screws into the top of my box right where the box was out of reach to my seat back so that even if the box wanted to move forward the screws would catch it. After everything is said and done, re-install the plastic piece under the dash, then move back under the hood and if you really want, take that black rubber hosing that came with the amp kit and cover the power wire with it, you know, if you dont want a red wire just sitting there. NOW YOU ARE DONE!, congratulations!! here are the pics of my subs installed. pretty big, so i linked em. My Subs Completed. What I mean by the screws. As you can see I have the trunk space of a Del Sol....but hey who cares I can feel my brain rattle in my skull Enjoy and Drive and listen responsibly.
