6th Gen Intake Install

This is a ram air install but it's almost the same with cold air which I'll point out in the end. (order of descriptions then pictures)

First we start with a stock 2000 Ex Sedan (coupes and hatches are the same for this application). Thanks to Bo for the use of the car to do this DIY.



First you want to remove the two bolts on the air box, this will disconnect it from the frame.



Like so



Now losen up the bolt that holds the intake tube to the throttle body of the intake (6MM nut). Very small just to the right of my finger long bolt.



Next, you want to find this sensor (IAT sensor - Intake air temp). It is just stuck into the stock air box with a rubber grommet. Wiggle the plug easy until it pops out.



Like... so..



Ok next you need to remove the vacume tube from the air intake pipe (the one I am holding, do so. Just to the left you will see a empty hole, this is where you took the IAT sensor from, so you know what it will look like out. Now setting up for the next step.. just to the left and slightly below the empty IAT sensor hole (about 7 o clock) you will see the next vacume tube you will need to remove, so heads up.



Now on the other end of the first vacume tube you need to remove that part from the head of the motor. DO so.



Now connect the new vacuum line that shold come with your intake (just get some rubber vacuum tube from the auto store if it didn't) to your intake and the other side to the place you took it off on the head. Heads up the hard tube you dissconnect is connected to another vacume tube that you need to keep so it's almost not worth it to get rid of that hard tube or cutting it off.. just leave it on no harm done.



Now you need to remove the other vacume tube I mentioned. You only need to remove this one from the intake and not from the block. Note as you see above the new intake is already on and the picture below the old air box is in. The order doesn't really matter here, I just want to cover all the steps.



Now, simply plug the vacume line into the new intake.



Now, Almost done.. Plug your IAT sensor again order doesn't matter, i'll go over a final check list at the end.



Ok last thing tighten up the clamps that hold the rubber o rings to the throttle body and intake. Then tighten up the clamps attached to the filter cone. In this picture you will see two black tubes coming up on each side of the intake cone. This was from the stock box, you need to usually take off your bumper or pop off the plugs holding your inner wheel fender off. Once you do that it's only only 10MM bolt holding on the tube. Very easy dont be too scared about it. If you are installing a cold air intake the second part of the intake tube will go into this hole and sit in between your wheel fender and the inside of the engine bay.




Now final check list.

• Make sure your IAT sensor is plugged into the new intake
• You should have two vacume tubes going into the new intake, make sure their connected on both ends. SOme times with some cheaper intakes you wont have two places to attach them. YOu can do the following: Either cap off the other tube (becuase it is only recycling air from the head into the intake again) or Make your own hole of if your ghetto and dont care let it hang it's only gonna shoot out air.
• Make sure the cone is secure to the new pipe
• Make sure the tube is secure to the throttle body
• some intakes come with brackets to secure them to the frame, attach it if you have it.
• Clean up your mess and enjoy

Looks great eric, only thing it's a 1999 EX not 2000, but what's the difference really?
