Sup? I got a 91 DX that's burnin oil liek crazy. rather then payin another $1000 to fix it (again...long story) i'm thinking of junking the motor. Now i got a friend who has a rebuilt Crx Si motor (D16A6) tranny/ecu he's gonna sell me for 250. I was thinking about that...but then dreams of that DOHC VTEC b16 started to entice me. Where i'm from i'm sure i'd have the fastest ef sedan if i did the b-series swap. My problem is that i do a lot of highway driving, and the 1st gen b16 has kind of short gears (seriously in 5th u shouldn't be at 4 on the tach goin 55mph....) so i was wondering if neone knew if i could bolt the d16a6's tranny onto the b-series. I'm not looking for something really quick...just something dependable that can surprise ur average meat head v6 or mustang. I know someone is gonna say ZC...but with no VTEC might as well pick up the D16A6 for the cheap price. If neone has any alternatives i'm open to them.

IMO you should take the $250 engine, tranny and ecu and drop that in, then use the extra money you would've spent on the b16 for a turbo... since the engine's just been rebuilt, i think that's your best bet.

Oh, and btw welcome to the site.

there is no way to bolt on a d series transmission. And im not sure what you mean by short gears in 5th. 5th gear is your "final drive" that means its geared for cruising in 5th gear. And there's no way you'd be at 4k on the tach in a b16. My type R with my final drive im at 4100 at 65 mph and it doesnt get any worse. And i still get 30 mpg.

Dont worry about the trans issue, swap the motor and call it a day.
