letting us know what went wrong would allow us to help you, but it sounds like you bought a SS for a newer gen car

1. You have to jack up the car
2. take the console, shift boot, etc.. off 3. Unbolt some little back plastic plate that hols the shiter on to the car 4. get under tha car, and look for the exhaust pipe, some where next to it youll see the shift linkage follow it to the shifter. 5. unscrew the bolts that hold the sifter and shift linkage( the ones that go thru the bearings at the bottom of the shifter). 6. Wiggle the shifter our and replace it with the new one, remember to grease up the new one or youll have a hard time shifting. 7. replace everything and make sure its all tight. 8. before you lower the car and actually drive it try and see if you can easily shift p.s. It has been about 8yrs since I did my red 1990 hatch but thats what I remember.. may have missed something but I think that is the "jist" of it.... Anyway hope this helps..if you'd tell me what went wrong I may be able to help you more... --este |
