Read this first.....
http://forums.civicland.com/index.php?show...3&hl=best+motor For me and my Crx i am planning a DOHC zc. Simple and easiest swap and easy on the wallet. Good improvment from the stock Crx motor. |

u got it steronz, btw thanks for hooking me up with rywire I would recommend them to anyone, great experience. I was on honda tech the other day and saw a thread about a guy who did a k20 in a lime green crx, lots of pics of the build up, cool to see what goes into making that swap happen

Typical answer... It is official, The k20 is now the new b16. Like years back when anyone asked "what type of motor is best for my....." the most often muttereed statement was "b16". Not everyone has the cash to drop on a k20,wants that much power of wants to drop that sort or bank on such a project. To better answer this persons question we need more info from him. (See my previous posts in this thread. |

i personally think u would be happy w/a b18 swap. b 18's have a bit more bottom end. no matter what series it is and if its going into a crx, u will notice a big difference just because of the weight. crx's weigh practically nothing .
Gsr mad bottom end, crazy top end |

the zc and the b18a/b have the same horsepower but the b18 has more torque, b16 has the most horsepower of the 3 but isn't a very torque motor. Easiest to swap in would be a zc, requires no wiring changes, no need to purchase motor mounts, or modify the shift linkage. b16/b18 are a little more difficult to do. it's all in what you want the car to do

first off, no offense to zc owners, but i have not heard good things about them. could just be hear-say, but as for my opinion on this question...i put a b18b1 in my last crx and loved it! it was a blast to drive every day. tons of low end power and it didnt seem to fall off in the top end either. i would top out my speedo by the time i shifted to 5th gear. yea an ls swap costs a lil more than a zc swap, but if you search long enough you can find a great deal. the swap itself can be difficult depending on your mechanical abilities, but in the end is very worth it. i would give an ls swap in a crx two thumbs way up any day. i know a lot of people think the k-swap is the way to go with everything now days, but in my opinion, do the ls swap, put on a turbo kit, get slicks, run faster times all day long. b-seris swaps= tried and true and much more cost effective.
