I'm looking at buying a 1990 CRX hf. Only main problem is that it is an auto. My first question is what could I get for the motor/trans currently in the car? Second, how hard is the conversion from manual to auto? The guy only wants like 700 or 800 for the car and this seems like a decent swap candidate. It's somethign I could actually drive until I saved for the swap. I have access to a engine hoist/A frame and very knowledgable help. How hard would this be. I'd prob. go with an LS or maybe early B16. Thanks everyone in advance.

to answer your first question, the current motor/tranny in the car honestly prob. won't bring much money on todays market. everyone is doing what you want to do, swapping engines. therefore, no interest in a motor like that. as for the auto to manual swap...you will need a new pedal assembly (including clutch cable and possbily throttle cable) from and 88-81 crx or a 90-93 integra 5spd. you have to make sure you assembly you get is for a cable tranny, which is why you cant go any newer than the 93. other than that, since you plan on doing a b-series swap, you'll already be getting shift linkage and a dif. computer. the hardest problem will more than likely be switching the pedal assembly. other than that, it should be a normal swap. if you have any other questions, let me know. hopefully that helps you

You also will need to add a clutch master cylider and hard lines for the slave cylinder. ECU and tranny mounts are also different if you arent swapping, otherwise b16a will come with it. Clutch pedal seembly sint that hard to change or come across, seen them go for 30$ at a junk yard.

Why would I need a master and slave cylinder and lines if it is a cable and not a hydrolic tranny? I'm planning one the older b16 that comes with a cable tranny for the ease of swap into that same year car. I'm new at this but that doesn't seem to make sense why i would need hydrolic parts for a cable tranny.

lilbluehatch---you are correct. you will not need a master cylinder or hardlines. like you said, cable, not hydro.

Heres my question, how sure are you that its a 90 hf? because honda never offered an auto tranny in the hf, its it an auto its the dpfi d15b2, i'd honestly drop a d16z6 or y8 head on it and call it a day if its the dx model. thats the mini-me swap

that's just what the guy told me. I'd still do the manual swap even if I could do a minime. i hate auto's. The point of me getting a crx is something to race and play with. I have a f150 daily. But this really doesn't sound like it would be that hard to swap tranny's

swapping the trannys no its not hard, the engine harness has to be completey be rewired because the dx had 2 injectors, every other engine had 4
