just bought a b15b6 thinking it was the same motor that is in my 89 civic 4dr. (sadly mistaken and not paying attention) it turns out to be a 8 vavle motor. i guess i should have known that when the valve cover does not say 16 valve it's not. anyways can i take the block and put a 16 valve head on it? the pistons that are in it only have 2 indention per piston for the valves. i am assuming i can do this but will also have to put the right pistons in it. can someone help me out or shpuld i just sell this motor and start all over. i want to stay stock.

Sell it and start over if you want performance. If you want gas mileage, use it and just rewire your car for MPFI. Search DPFI to MPFI conversion and you'll find the information you need. You'll need to get the HF ECU and distributor.
If you're just looking for a stock setup to replace a dying engine, swap the intake manifold setup from your stock D15B2 over to the "new" engine. It may be 8 valve, but it will still run ok. This will allow you to continue using all your existing electronics and control systems without having to buy anything extra. Next time don't PM me to tell me to look at a thread. |
