the foam peice helps absorb the impact if ever in a frontal crash, also, say if someone barely bumps you.. or you basrely bump the backend of someone, it helps your front bumper not fold/bend/smoosh inwards.....good thing to have.....some aftermarket front bumper covers ..arent molded correctly on the underside to properly fit against/over the foam peice, do yourself a favor..and jsut trim away whats in the way.....keep that dman foam peice, its useful

ahh i see, well i dont think this bumper support comes with a foam piece, so i guess i'll have to make my own...

i have had my street fighter 2 bumper on my civic for over a year now without the foam and the metal support and have had zero problems with it. i havent looked in my mirror and seen it being run over but i would prolly laugh my ass off for a minute and then be pissed cuz i had to go buy a new bumper
