Hi all

Soon I plan to bleed the breaks on my 92' Civic and while I am at it I want to rotate the tires. So... I want to know the standard procedure for jacking the car up to put it up on 4 Jack stands.

After reading the manual my idea is that I would jack up the front of the car using the front jack lift platform high enough to put jack stands under the front support points, lower the vehicle down onto them and then do the same for the rear. Do I have it right?

I have a basic idea of how to bleed the breaks also.. I am going to read up on it some more tonight and out of the manual, and I plan to ask a few friends to help me for safety reasons.

When I goto rotate the tir
So, do I have my jacking plan correct?.. In order to bleed the breaks I need someone in the car operating the break pedal... as long as I get the appropriate jack stands I should be safe under the car doing the bleeding right? lol The more I think about it the more dangerous it sounds (lol) but I have my reasons for wanting to do it myself. Ask if you want.

Umm.. it only makes sense to rotate the tires after I bleed the breaks since I haven't done so yet and the wheels will be taken off the car. Don't you think so?

I have a good amount of tread left on my tired but I want to keep it that way as long as possible lol so I am going to rotate the tires. So as the do ware, the ware evenly.

Sounds like you have everything right so far. I'm guessing you have never worked on a car before

Make sure you bleed them in a criss corss pattern. Front right, rear left, front left and rear right. But if your not taking your breaks off or replacing them these really no need to do it. Taking your tires off isn't going to put air in your brake lines. Also please make sure you break your lugs loos before you put the car on the stand.

o yeah, When bleeding make sure you have a friend with you. You need to lossen the bleed screw pump, pump and hold then tighten it.

Bleeding brakes:

Start with the rear right (farthest from master cylinder), then go to front left. Second set is rear left, then front right. Honda brakes are connected in diagonal pairs. It is very important that you start each diagonal pair with the corner farthest from the master cylinder. This order makes sure that you get all the air out of the system.

How to bleed:

0. Attach clear hose to bleeder screw nipple
1. Step on brake pedal, HOLD pedal
2. Loosen bleeder screw
3. Let fluid rush out
4. Tighten bleeder screw
5. Lift brake pedal

Repeat 1-5 until the brake fluid runs clean and without bubbles. Check your brake fluid reservoir every 5-10 pumps to make sure that it's full. If you run dry, you'll have to bleed the master cylinder (not fun).
