oil on plugs

Hey everyone, im a newbie and this is my first post on here, My problem is: I just finished changing the water pump, ran it for bout 20 minutes with no problems and then she stalled and wont start again, just turns. I was checking for spark when i seen oil in 1,3,4 cylinders. I hope i dont need a motor swap.

Were you overheating and/or losing coolant before changing the waterpump?If you were then you may have a blown head gasket.Have you checked your Thermostat?

Are you finding oil in the cylinder itself or just the sparkplug passage in the valve cover.When the valve cover gasket goes bad your spark plug passage ways will seep oil and the pressure of the leak can cause your plug wires to pop up and offf the spark plug (Personal experience).

i wasent over heating but the pump was whinning and leaking. The oil was found on the spark end of the plugs, in the cylinder and only on the 1,3,4 cyl. do you know how long of a job it is to change head gasket, hopfully it aint that though.

I've never done it on a civic but I don't think it's all that difficult but you'll want to have the head decked to ensure an even surface when reinstalling.

Also check your rings for excessive wear.
How was the power before you changed the waterpump?What kind of mileage does it have?

k, This morning she started right up but started sputtering when it got up to temp. Found a bad ground and changed it and it helped drasticaly. Drove it around the block, staying uphill incase I had to push it home, parked it and went for my second walk to canadian tire and got plugs and a cap, changed the cap but i cant get the screw off the rotor button. She runs awsome now but I still wanna try and rectify the oil prob. I was looking at em closer and the oil is comming from the top and not the cylinder. Thanks for the help.

No problem.Glad to hear it was a simple fix.

Be sure to get a genuine Honda Valve Cover Gasket cause the auto parts gaskets generally will fail quickly.
