Interesting Problem

Hello, I have a '92 civic vx and it has started acting up. When cold, it starts right up and runs as normal thru the entire operating range. Once it reaches normal operating temperature it starts hesitating when driving at constant throttle no matter what rpm I am running. Then when I hit the accelerator, it stutters, then picks up and goes. When I come to a stop it idles fine and will run fine no matter where I hold the accelerator. The problem only occurs when driving at a constant throttle.

Also, the check engine light is not on.

when you are up to speed say 55mph and it will sputter and such??? well a guy i used to work with had that problem he said it was fine until he got up in speed a little bit then the car would just lose power and not wanna pick back up again for him it was the catalitic converter it didnt make sense to me but that was the problem for him it could be for u but his civic was a 89 or something close to that dont no if that will help but give it a shot. have you checked the code on your CE light? i'm betting you've got a bad O2 sensor and/or EGR valve. This is a common problem on the 92 vx. i have one, my buddy has one, we both have the same issue. stutters and hesitates, then boom, got power. also, i noticed that i will be driving and having the hesitation thing, then the CE light will kick on, and boom.. there i go.. power, no more hesitation.. strange strange. yeah, bettin its the o2 and egr. problem is, the o2 sensor for the vx is a 5 wire wideband, and its 450$ to replace new, 350$ if you know the guy at the junkyard. Pshh. whatever. Deal with it and put that 400$ into savings for the k24 frankie next summer.
