How in the hell do you get this damn thing off? I have a '95 civic and I am tring to replace the CV joint on the pass side. I am stuck because this f&%$# thing will not come off. I have already lost a few tools in the process(bent two breaker bars and broke a small extension) running out of options. I have put an impact with about 180lbs but no luck. Any advice would be greatly appericated.
thanks |

There should be a key on the shaft that needs to be removed.

If you look at the spindle, there should be a little space or notch on the end of it. Theres a little metal piece around it. Take a punch and a hammer and tap it out. Then you can use your impact gun. (I've heard that the Si axle has a few problems. I've actually heard that the DX axle fits much better, since the Si and the DX are similar. Thought you'd might like to know if your replacing the axle.) Good luck.

DONT GET THE DX axle at first. Sorry, I have heard so many things about using the Dx axle on the Si. If you do have an Si, go buy that axle, the DX one looks smaller. Hope this helps you out!
