Hi everyone, not really new i just forgot all my info from the last time i was here. I have a 92 civic EX 4 door and the knob on the climate control snapped off, so instead of ghetto rigging it, i bought one off of ebay that was on a 94 LX coupe, i hope this will fit in my car, cause i've heard otherwise that it wont hook up right or something like that. In any case, Will the unit i bought fit in my car, and how do i go about doing this?? Thanks for any help.

I'm pretty sure it will fit... the dash panels are all pretty much the same. What exactly did you buy though? There was no 94 LX coupe- only an LX sedan.

When it comes to the 92-95 dashes, I think I've swapped almost everything across the board. I have tubs of parts that I didn't bother seperating, when looking at any of them you can't notice a difference. Only if the color is a greyish metallic or black, but as for wiring they all wire up the same. Even cars without A/C that just have the button delete in them, put a button in and it'll control it. As far as being hard, its not that bad, get a Haynes or Helms manual and it'll explain step by step on how to do it.
If you have any other questions after reading one of the manuals, just ask. -Mike |

thats the only difference i've noticed too that it is a darker shade of gray, in lookin at the new climate control it doesnt seem to be different at all, but when i was buying it off of ebay, the guy who was selling it said that some climate controls have a steel cable that runs through the glove compartment
.... and thus some climate controls dont swap right in. I was wondering if there was any validity in that, if there isnt and you all say that all of the climate controls were the same between 92-95 for the HB, sedan and the coupe then i guess the only problem i'll have to deal with is installation. Does anyone know how to get at the climate control? i took some time to look around my dash a little bit and the only logical thing i can think of to get at the c/c is to pry off the molding that goes around everything. Before i try this are there any screws that i should know about before i go and start breaking stuff?

Keep in mind that I'm going off memory, but here it goes.
There is 2 screws that sit at an angle at the bottom, you'll need to remove the radio to get to them. There is one on the right and one on the left, a short philips screwdriver should be enough for that. There is a cable that hooks to the cool/hot lever that has clips that keep the cable in place, a tiny flattip can be used to get it out. Theres I believe, 2 plugs in the back, but since you have one out in front of you, then you already knew this. After all these are unplugs/unhooked/unscrewed, you should be good to pull it out. If not, look around, there might be something I missed. -Mike |

Can anyone tell me what i did wrong, it was blowing hot air just fine before i took it out. What did i do wrong?

There is a clamp right before the cable goes to the heater valve, it holds the cable in place so that only the inside moves and will control the heat. If you look under the glove box towards the middle of the car, you will see what I am talking about. That may be your problem or the clamp which does the same thing on the heater control itself.

yea it was the clamp, for some reason it wont hold the black part still every time i try to move it to heat the black part pops out of its little holder. so its permanently on heat now until springtime.
other than that now my head unit has lost all power, the fuse is fine, the stereo fuse is fine, i rewired the harness and i know that is fine...but the power button wont work. there goes a 300.00 head unit. i hope its not the head unit tho. Has anyone ever had this problem, where everything is hooked up fine, but the stereo wont power up and the clock keeps resetting itself to 1:00 every time you turn the car off?? Because, thats what its doing. At first i thought it was the harness cause when my stereo got stolen and i drove it around w/o anything hooked up to the harness it would give me the same problem....

Check your main 3 wires, constant 12v, the keyed 12v and the ground. Normally the clock will reset itself if it doesnt have a constant power, but then again if you can see the clock then you might have other issues, but I would start at those 3 wires and work your way from there.
