thatexact thing happened to me in my mr2. I bought a new reg switch and that was not the prolbem, it ended up being that my car's computer was so screwed up from the guy who had it before me that the signals to different functions in the car were not working. I bought it to toyota and they did a full diagnogstics on it and then they just let the computer fix the problem. Worked like a charm and it was a lot cheaper than the damn Non Refundable switch.

if you can hear your motor trying to run the window it is most likly something else. Could just be off track.

More than likely, the the window came off track. Civics with power windows are famous for it. The regulator gets weak over time and flexes too much causing the window to pop off track. If you replace the regulator, it helps out a lot. If not just get used to putting it back in track a couple times a year like I have to.
