As my name puts it, I have weakass 00 Civic DX. I have been researching all the upgrading options. The one thing I have decided is swap gives you the best for the buck! From what I can tell the H22A motor seems to be the most economical and provides excellent power. But would this be a good swap or is it too much trouble, i.e. too heavy, too many change over parts, etc...?

Thanks

The Weekass Civic

Well it's not the best bang for the buck after you add in all the extra time and money on mounts and head acks it's goingto give you. Its alot of work, Not only will you need new mounts,Wiring and some other stuff you will need a new suspention in the front. All in all your looking at 3500 to 4000 if you do all the work yourself.

Good to know, what would be a choice? One concern I have is stay smog legal. Assuming I have $3K to spend.

For 3k, I'd get a B20. With money left over to buy parts for it.

Seems the B20 is the swap of choice around here. What's so special about it (non-vtec right?)? I am assuming it's a heavier motor than a B18C with 30-40 less ponies.

I'm assuming you have a DX/VP... Go for the LS/VTEC swap and retain the auto tranny. Swapping to a manual is nothing but heartache....although after many thousands of dollars of fixing broken shit it can be fun.

B18B (LS) block with a B18C1 (GSR) VTEC head on it.
