I'm wondering if anyone with an ek has had any water leak problems. For me, the water streams in the trunk, somewhere behind the plastic panels by the tail lights and into the spare tire well.
any solutions? My brother's EG hatch had a similar leak which he solved by ripping out the rubber weather strips on both sides of the hood. Couldn't find the water leak after pouring water on the top of my car. any help would be great |

i drive a 96 dx hatch and have the EXACT same leak.. water pooling in the spare tire wheel well.. can't figure it out either.. just weird that we both have the same leak, must be a quirk with 6th gen hatches

My Eg gets VERY little water in the spare tire area, but it does have a small drain hole i found that was plugged up,once i cleared that it was fine. As for my CRX haven't seen any water in there. |

yo man i think the problem is u need new gaskets for yer rear tailights. it happened in my onler hatch and it was a real pain in my ass cuz everytihng would get wet. the only other thing i can think of is that part of the trunk near the lights could have some sealer missing. i would say that it prob is the light gaskets. 2 easy ways to fix it is make a small hole in the bottome under the spare and have the water drain of go to a honda dealer and drop 10 bucks for some new gaskets.

I had a similar problem with my "97 hatchback and I traced it back to the rear light assemblies. The gasketing had deteriorated and provided an opening for water which runs down the hatchback channel (outer side of the seal ) to enter the spare tire well and pool there. It was solved by applying black (or transparent) silicon sealant around the light assembly in liberal amounts being careful not to block the normal water drain flow channel.
Hope this helps. |

Holy dead thread resurection! But... i also found the water entering the spare tire wheel well was coming from the rear lights.. replaced the gaskets and everything was fine.

I have the very same issue. My spare tire well would be wet, but at first, it was because I had a tow hitch on my car, and removing it left four holes underneath. I sealed them off and still get it. If it's coming in through the light assemblies, could it also explain why I have moisture in my taillights?
