if you are talking about belt dressing i wouldn't suggest using it. it might temporarily stop the sound but it can ruin belts quickly.

yeah don't put anything on your belts. yes it might help hydrate them for the moment but if you don't keep on top of it, they will dry rot fast and you'll be worse off. Just try and adjust them, or check you piping. i didn't read the whole post but it sounds like somthing simple/

yeah thats true, my dad had to constantly re apply it on the Jetta every 3 or 4 months when it would start up again.

Put your ear on the valve cover. If you hear it in there your valves are tapping and you need to get it looked at.

not to rip on u or anything but the post has been dead for a month now and some members are kinda picky when dead posts are brought back up. im not saying that what u said wasnt important by any means, but being that the thread died the problem was prolly either resolved or just ignored.

also when checking for valve tap u should really use a auto stethoscope instead of just puttin ur ear on it.

now thats its alive again tho, bo did u ever find out what the problem was?
