Hey all, i am needing help. i would like to find a stock VX to use as a daily driver. well i am about to give up. Every hatchback i find has a more powerful/less fuel efficent motor swapped in it. is there any place to buy a stock vx motor? at this point, if i could only find the motor(and everything else needed), i couldnt care less what i put the thing in. anyway, i have too many questions for just this post. so i will leave with just asking that. thanks alot ahead of time.

Nippon Motors sells them. You might also check around for engines from junk yards @ www.car-part.com.

How much of a difference in MPG is there between a Vx motor and the Cx,Dx, or Si motors? See for yourself. I see why you want a Vx motor!

92-95 Civic Engine Info - All d series,SOHC
Ex and Si - 125 horsepower, 1.6-liter w/vtec went into the EX 4-door sedan,Coupe and Si Hatchback.
DX and LX - 102 horsepower, 1.5-liter.
VX - 92-horsepower 1.5 liter w/ "VTEC-E"
CX - 70 horsepower, 1.5 liter

EPA MPG city/hgwy
Ex/Si 29/35
Cx 42/46
Vx 47/56
Dx/Lx 34/40

You're welcome. $395 isn't a bad price at all for a decent running D series setup- but I'm looking for something cheaper. The only way you're going to find it cheaper than $400 is most likely going to be something outside the junkyards. I've been looking for one from an individual seller, since I only want to have the engine and ECU- and I want to spend way less than $400 for it.

i actually have a vx and i'm gonna do a swap in the next couple months. if you're still lookin, i'll sell you my stock motor.

the O2 sensor is bad, and that's another 350-400$, tho, but it runs without it. i get avg 37-42mpg if i don't run it hard.

hey soul, dont forget me when you do the swap. i am looking for a nice hatch to drop the motor in. where i live it is hard to find a civic without everything painted yellow or something. ppl here think yellow adds 20hp to stock parts. so all the civics for sale here are asking wayyyy too much, but hey the yellow wiper blades makes it a 12 sec car!
