Hey, I'm new here and to my Civic...lol...ive been looking around on the net for my Civic's engine code...its a 1996 Civic EX ...

Hey, I'm new here and to my Civic...lol...ive been looking around on the net for my Civic's engine code...its a 1996 Civic EX Sedan and a lot of places say it's a D16Y8 but on my engine it says D16Y7...who do i believe...my car or other people...lol...and is there a differnece between the two???...thx...also...I was wondering if a Ram Air intake would be better then a Cold Air intake where I live in a cold and snowy climate during the winter....thx...

You sure you don't have a 96 Civic LX sedan with an EX badge on it?

Look at your VIN that is mounted on the dash on the driverside, then cross check it against the vin on the engine. If they match, then you have an LX/DX with an EX emblem on it.

nope...but whats the point of having an LX and putting an EX emblem on it...and if it is an LX would I look for LX performance parts and body parts???...thx

No they don't match...but why have an LX engine in it?...and would i look for EX or LX parts?

in canada the EX is the lx in the US
In canada the SI is our EX
In canada the LX is our DX
In canada the SIR is our SI
