I have a 2000 honda civic ex. its got 92,000 miles on it. i have replaced the timing belt about 10,000 miles ago. There is a loud knocking sound under the valve cover only when accelerated, and when car warms up its shuts off when idling. my tps needs replacing so wondering if maybe that is why it shuts off when idling.

seriously man.. you need to check your plugs. Make sure your running on all four cylinders, if its not that I would do a compression test on it to be on the safeside.

sounds like what happened to my car COULD have happened to you. But I'm on the bottle so I pulling towards me being wrong.

I would take off the valve cover again, and inspect underneath, make sure everything looks ok.

If it shuts off while idling, and you recently had a timing belt done, make sure the cam is timed properly. Improper timing can cause it to shut off, and could possibly cause piston/valve contact.
