yes it does, that engine is only made for the 98 civic ex i think, and it does have vtec* listen at 5900rpms

yes, your Y8 does have Vtec...check under the hood, and you will surely see the Vtec solenoid if you know what you're looking for.=) the pull from the SOHC Vtec engines doesn't feel anywhere near to what a DOHC Vtec motor feels like, but it's definitely there on your Y8.=)
