hey guys, i'm kinda new here. i have a 00 civic dx 4dr auto and i just installed a intake on my d16y7. i took apart the little "power cord" (?) that was connected to the air filter box then installed the intake. but before i reconnected the "cord" (i forgot to connect it...) i turned on my engine to move it up the driveway and noticed the engine check light on. it has never turned on before this...

is this bad? how do i get the light to turn off? after seeing that the engine light was on, i reconnected it.

help?

If it is now reconnected, you have to reset the ECU. To do this, go to the fusebox that is in the engine bay. Pull the 7.5A Backup fuse for a minute or so. Pop it back in, start the car, and just let it idle for a few minutes. The CEL should no longer be on.

Saw this thread so i decided to stick with it instead of make another.

So my question is about my 96 hx coupe: my check engine light came on once before and was the result of a hole in my exhaust pipe which got fixed. now it is back on and got it checked out to find that there is insufficient flow in the exhaust gas recirculation system.

i'd rather try and fix it myself before i brought it to a shop. any help would be appreciated thanks.

i am not all too familiar with exhaust systems in general, it's the one part of my car i haven't done much work on yet...but my best guess would be to check everything from the header on back all the way to muffler...check for holes or rotted piping and seams. ummm, check your O2 sensors too. if they are still the original ones that came with the car, they may need a change...also check you catalytic converter. i dunno if you've already done all of this, if you have, then i dunno where to go from there. but hopefully, someone can pick up where i left off and guide you in the right direction. good luck man, and i hope you get this problem fixed.

could be a bad o2 sensor, a plugged cat, or maybe a whole in the exhaust. just gonna have to go over the entire exhasut and check it out. ferio had the right idea
