My d16Y8 seems to shake a lot. Anything I can do to reduce this ie: torque damper, polyurethane motor mounts,.... I've heard of people actually replacing a single motor mount but am not sure if it was for the same reason. I've also heard of people adding a weight to one side of their engine to balance it, but who wants extra weight? Any help would bee appreciated
Also, There is a high pitched squeak in my engine bay because of the motor vibration. I checked the belts and they're fine. It almost sounds like thin sheet metal rubbing somewhere around the alternator area. I've had a mechanic glance at it and he couldn't pinpoint it either. It is a lot more noticeable in the cabin then outside the car, which might suggest something with the frame? Also, it squeaks noticeably at 2500 RPM until the engine is warmed up. kinda strange huh? any ideas? |

You have probably already considered this because it so obvious. Nonetheless, you mention that the squeaking is coming from around the alternator, so is the noise possibly due to a loose belt(s) (PS, A/C, alternator)?
Also, I had an annoying metallic rattle/squeak in my 1997 Civic DX, and it turned out to be a loose exhaust heat shield near the catalytic converter. |

only thing I can think of with an engine shaking is motor/tranny mounts. the other noise that you have could be a heat shield.

I removed the heat shield by the cat and the squeak is still there.
