Default Civic DX Engine & Tranny swap advice

Hey I'm looking for some advice, I currently own a 2000 Honda Civic DX, no work done, 34k miles, automatic transmission and I was wondering about a few things. After searching through B-series engines I cam across the B16B which is a JDM motor. If I wanted to do an engine swap and put this in and also switch over to a 5-speed how difficult would that be? Do I have to also put in the LSD transmission if I use the Type R engine? Also about how much is all that going to run me if I am hunting for an engine and transmission with similar miles to my car? Any tips or advice on this would be great cause I am new to this and don't have a good idea of where to start loking or if it would just be better to use a B16A2 off the USDM.

I would go for the B18C motor, its much better than the B16. Usually a swap will run you around 5gs if you have a shop do it. Though it could go up a bit more, You will need to also get, motor mounts they are around 300 or so, Axles probably 400? not sure, and then because you will be going from an auto to a manual thats going to be a bitch. you will need to make a hole in the firewall get all the clutch related parts. I would say if you have a shop do it, look around 6 or so for the entire swap.

H22 is about the same i think maybe just a little more. Its what i have in my hatch and yes i do love it, its just incredibly powerful. But it does suck money if you build it up a lot. Other than that if you were to do just basic mods to it, i would say go for it. They are awesome motors.

you can pick up an H22 with lsd for about 2.5 to 3k rather than 5 k for a jdm b18. installation would probably be the same cause you'd have to change axls in either case. Also, you could buy a manual tranny for your engine and a turbo for the same price reigon. If your engine is reliable enough its something to look in to

Well one thing to remember is that its not exactly easy to find parts for the H22, it took me a month to find a crank. But if you do intend on getting it just make sure you have extra parts depending on what kind of build you do.
