I just bought a 97 HX a couple of weeks ago and the cv joints sounded pretty bad. So I replaced both cv shafts and I thought the problem was fixed. However today when I got to work I noticed that slight clicking sound again when I was backing into a parking space with the wheels cut hard to the left. Is the problem coming from somewhere else or is is possible that I got a bad remanufactured shaft?

Jack your car up and turn the wheel by hand and see if you
can verify where it's coming from. If you're sure it's from a front wheel with one of the new shafts, then it probably is a wheel bearing. When the shafts were out, it would have been easy to check them by just turning them by hand. when they're bad, you can feel the grinding and resistance. ![]() |

Thanks for the info. I guess I probably should have just replaced the bearings when I had everything apart.

I think those bearings have to be "pressed" in,
that means removing the entire spindle assembly and takeing it to a machine shop. I paid around $80.00 per side on my 98 civic. That was the bearing and pressing it in. ![]() |

You may want to check whether the tie rod ball joints are loose or damaged. Bad wheel bearings more typically cause a humming sound when moving.

It only made the clicking noise once on the first day after the shaft replacement. I have been unable to get the car to make the clicking noise again since then so I guess it isn't really an issue anymore. I did inspect all of the ball joints when I had everything apart they were all fine. Thanks for all the help guys.
