You can search for individual items and up comes a list of the websites that offer that item for the cheapest prices, and short reviews on each website.
EXTREMELY convenient.

Don't bid on stuff . . .

E-mail the seller, find out the lowdown on what it is they are selling, and buy it outright from them!

I've saved sooo much money that way. You've just got to trust whoever it is that you're buying from / selling to.

E-gay scares me; Ive heard some horror stories from folks I know about just getting FUCKED by sellers on there, so I stray away. Also, I like that whole brand-spankin-new-just-out-of-the-box-and-still-has-the-warranty thing; not that I have excessive amounts of cash to sling around for that express purpose, but theres a certain level of, well, certainty in that, you know?
