Hello everyone. Today was the big day I got my 97 Civic DX. I had the CD player from my old car that I wanted in the civic, and the civic already had a crap CD player in it. I hook up my stereo and everything seems ok. The CD player will take and eject a disk with the car off. I turn the car on and it will not power up. But it still will take a disk meaning that some power is there. I checked the fuses and the stereo fuse was blown of course, so I change it and it happens again. I've gone over the wire numerous times even rewiring. Does anybody know what my problem could be? Could it be a problem with the wiring farther down?

It sounds to me like your constant power yellow and your ignition power yellow are possibly crossed. this migh t caust a surge.
For some reason, I can't think of anyhting else thta could cause this. Most likely the alcahol in me, lol
I installed for years so don't think I'm blowing smoke at you, lol I'm seriously thinking that is your smptom.
If the car did have an aftermarket head unit in it and the factory wire harness was cut off to wire that one in, there's no telling were th e problem could lay.

How did you wire up your new deck?

Wire to wire or plug n' play with a Honda harness?

Triple check all your wiring. It sounds like you have a wire in the wrong place or a short to ground or power causing a fuse to blow. Get the diagram and go over it again. DONT put a larger fuse in place of the recommended fuse. That would be dumb
