I recently went and bought an amp kit for the amp i just installed and was curious to find out how good of a product this is? Car Toys hre in houston carries nothing but that so since It was late and I was in a hurry that is what I bought, Im kinda skeptic since I have never heard of this brand but then again there's not much I know about audio...so can anyone give me their opinions on this brand?

Im not gonna say theyre bad becuase ive never used them. But some one else might know more about them then i do. Ive always used Monster Cable. Great product. Never had any problems from them. I will say however... i DOUBT that StreetWires is all that great. But im also sure they arent the worst.

mhmm thanks for the input. I myself used a Rockford fosgate kit with my last amp and it worked wonders so I may go ahead and replace the streetwirez with a RF kit oh well... well see the amp and the subs won't stay in the car too long..

Street Wires is good stuff. It's not top of the line...but it's a long way from the bottom of the line. Also when it comes to wire(power wire) about 90% of it comes from the same factory but just gets a different name on it at the end. The Speaker wire and RCAs are the big ones. The nicer RCAs and speaker wire you use the better your sound is going to be. But with that are you going to get what you pay from. Most that come in those kits are good enough. I wouldn't be worried about it, you got good stuff.

Hissing noised would be from improper shielding and wire routing. You can make cheapo wires sound good if you're careful with placement.
I've used Streetwires before in an old old old installation, and they're really not that bad. Power wire is power wire- you're not doing any filtering until you get to the amp anyway. Just make sure that you have thick enough power wire to feed your stereo setup, and that your grounds are solid. I like to buy power wire from Home Depot. It's nice and cheap, you get whatever size/length you want, and you can get all the connectors there at the same time too. I prefer grounded twisted pair Monster Cable for my signal wires. They're really nice for noise rejection, and they're made damn well too. |

ha ha this is an oldie...
Welsince then I hvae moved up to the rockford fosgates on both the 2002ex and the 2002 si! the sedan amp kit was wired very badly, the amp wide ran over the valve cover <dunno: the heat lmelted the shit out of it, so i decided to move it on up to a bettter installation (a friend ) and moved up on the wire... Im not too savvy with audio bu the wires just look beeifre and there is no hissing sound now, So i imagine thats is a better wire or workmanship...freaking car toys install sucks balls!!! ![]() BTW My amp has blown my two speakers> wtf? these were some old school RFosgate pro comp speakers i bought these a looong time ago and so far they had held up until my new amp got put in...its not new but im no audiophile guy its a Kenwood KAC720 which is something like 400mwats I believe?? those speakers should have been able to take more power than that ? so I have no idea what the prob. is? So now I have huge 50lb box of dead weight sitting in my trunk.. bah! any ideas what may have caused the speakers to blow? maybe their age? |
