Well my stereo that I've had planned for about a year now is slowly coming together...I got my new amp today thats going to run the whole system....
The JL Audio 450/4 - sorry for the smart pic...the only one I could find. ![]() I'm going to run a pair of 8" and speakers in the front of the one amp. Speakers up front are still up in the air right now. The 8s are going to be JL Audio W1 for all the old school car audio nuts. ![]() But after doing a little measuring and test fitting the plan to keep everything hidden is going to be a little harder then I first planned. There is going to be more then a few hours in the garage working everything out. But I'm going to post picture during and after we get the install done. |

Nice choice on the equipment Erik! Over powered 8's always sound killer imo. ![]() As for your setup, I'm planning on running just about the same things: A class D amp to a few JL 8's (to go with my other (4) 6and1/2's) You'll have to let me know what you think of everything when you're all done with it. |

Yeah the 8" are going to rock I can't wait. I still need to make up my mind on the front stage. I still thinking right now about the XR650CXi(JL Audio) and then mount a pair of XR100CT(tweeters) up in the dash to bring the sound stage up a little bit. We'll have to see thought.

i'm doing 8" JL Subs too (inside JL Stealthboxes). i already have a two free-air JL 8IB4 subs that i'm going to use as backups or incase i can find some stealthboxes w/ out speakers.
erik, are you mounting them in your rear deck w/ enclosures behind them or in a sealed box? |

Just remember, if you decide to go with a set or 2 of tweets . . keep them away from your face!
![]() When I had my HardBody, I flush mounted a pair in the headliner thinking it'd be nice to have them closer to me . . Wrong!!! I fealt like my ears were bleeding everytime I got out, lol Just a useless heads up! ![]() |

Aaron - Yeah I'm mounting the 8s under the rear with sealed boxed. Right now the design is a little complex to try and say via the internet but once I get more of it built I'll post up some pictures. When I was look under the deck I found a lot more things that I had to work around then what I had planned so I had to make some changes in the plans.
Sam - The dash mounting tweeters (if I use them) would go in the center of the dash under the the defrost vents. Then tuned to play only 10k and up and most likely depending on how they sound set at a -3db. I've heard a set up close that that before and it sounds good. It really lifts everything up. ![]() |
