ok, here's the deal.
Looking for a sub that offers CLARITY. I'm not a big basshead.
I listen to Reggie, Punk, and House sometimes.
I would like a suggestion on a 12" sub, 4 6.5" speakers, an amp and a headunit. I've been looking at the Nakamichi headunit for a while now.
But i don't know anything about the Nakamichi subs or amp.
My main aim for the headunit is simplicity. I DON'T want graphics, animation, or anything like that. I'd like to to look as stock as possible. So that's what i was looking at Nakamichi products

Alpine/ JL everything.. as for the Nakcoochie or w/e stuff, ive heard alot of you say its good, but ive never seen one, so im assuming since you like it, its not all flashy and stuff. If not.... Alpine has alot of high quality HU's that arent all christmasy looking. And you cant go wrong with their (or JL's) amps/speakers. Maybe a nice JL 12W6V2 on a 250/1 amp. It'll have some kick, but not too much.

Nakamichi makes some really nice decks. I would also recommend going with an Eclipse or Alpine. Amps, I would go with either JL or Alpine. Components, either JL, Alpine X series, Focal, Image Dynamics, well there are plenty of nice speaker lines out there depending on your tastes and budget. For a sub, there are tons to chose from, but I would go with either a JL w6v2 or w3v2 depending on the amp and the budget. Depending on the vehicle, you may be plenty happy with a single 10" if done right.

The only thing with Naks is that sometimes the lazer is very touchy and won't read unclean or burned disc. But sometime there isn't any problem. I've seen it go both ways in their Head unit.

I think that everyone has answered the speaker question well enough.

the person who called nakamichi Nakcoochie should be banned for having no knowledge of a great audiophile company.
whats your budget?
nak makes very nice decks, and their amps are well designed (i've talked to the designer of the pa series amps, and know he does great work!)
if you want a freakin awesome deal on nak amps (or us acoustics, or planetaudio) email ZEDAUDIO@aol.com for a list of his current amps for sale.
i would reccomend the nakamichi 45-z, which is pretty affordable.
i would ditch the rear fill cuz its pretty usless if you want a good image.
i would reccomend a bunch of 6.5 fronts (make sure to run comps, since they perform much better!
jl XR, diamond audio hex s600, focal polykevlar 165k, adire koda 6.5, or even design your own, using such drivers from peerless, seas, lpg, etc etc

how much power will you power the subs with? i could reccomend a bunch of different drivers, but price is the big difference

realistically I don't want to spend more then 350 on the headunit, 150 for the sub, 300 for the amp, and maybe 200 for a pair of 6.5" not that's saying that I will if i HAVE to. But I WON'T pay retail. So I'm willing to, but I won't

I'd say Alpine HU, JL all around on the speakers try a W0 sub it's still a great sound with a lot less pain on the pocket

You must always remember however you get what you pay for in this industry. Not paying retail is 1 thing but limiting your budget and still wanting clarity is a bit far fetched!

And theres a reason no one is suggesting kicker
