School is almost over and during the semester it got stolen so this winter im looking to buy a new one! If everyone has forgot what my setup is/was ill refresh ur memory

Alpine HU
4 6.5 inch Infinity Refernce speakers
Rockford Fosgate Punch 500s Amp (Stolen)
Rockford Fosgate 2 12 inch Punch HX2s in sealed box (stolen)
Rockford Fosgate 1 Farad Cap

Now im looking to replace the Amp, Subs, and Box

After getting the the shit stolen outta my trunk and driving around i notice the civic much faster. The box was really heavy and weighing me down. I want a smaller system now but with either the same amount of power or more and weight savings

Heres the basic setup im thinking about going with.

Obviously a amp thats 1000w instead of 500 like the old one

and one 12 inch sub in a sealed box instead of two.

I havent decided what brands to go with yet? looking for opinions? How much weight u think i can save?

I miss my system

i dont know what your taste is for bass, but my old sub set up in the civic was an mtx 1500, bridged to 300 watts rms, and a jl audio dv coil 12" in a sealed Q logic box.(cant remember the model #), but it hit good and tight, not going to blow the neighborhood's windows out for sure, but it hits tight and is fairly loud. just fyi i bought i new deck and just put it in, its the sony 7700/k i think it is, 279 at crutchfield, and i love that deck! 3-4volt pre-outs, with one being a seperate pre-out just for subs, 7 pre-set EQs but the thing is there is one you can customize completely on 7 bands, which is cool. its also got digital soundstage organizer, if you push that (it has 3 settings) you can make it sound like the speakers are up near the windows instead of in the doors. it plays mp3s and it also cleans up the file so it sounds better (i think its called BBE). but anyway good luck finding something man. oh yeah and go check out www.onlinecarstereo.com i just found it last night and they seem to have some awesome deals!

Run a JL 12w5 plus a JL 500w amp or a JL 12w7 plus a JL 1000w amp.

Ok the one sub one amp setup seems to be the right one.. thanks so far..

everyone talks soo big about the JL stuff i really need to check it out especially the W7..

I really like the sound of 1000W amp with the W7

BTW i like my bass real heavy... i listen to hard trance and tribal so bass is a priority.

I honestly think that JL is one of the best value brands out there. They make really solid stuff, it sounds damn good, and it's not too expensive either. The W7 hits HARD. If you pipe in a little more power than it's rated to handle (and it's clean power) then you'll have plenty of bass- trust me. I had just a 12w0 in my Civic before, and it hit hard enough in a 1 cu ft box to make me happy. I'm running a 10w3 in there now, and it's even better.

True- it is heavy... but a 12w3 overpowered or a 12w6 overpowered will still hit really hard without feeling like you're carrying around an anvil in your trunk. I think Clarion has a new set of lightweight subwoofers on the market too- you might want to check those out.

Most of the weight in a system will be in the box. I would take Calesta's advice and go with the JL because they are a clean hard hitting sub. Than look into a fiberglass enclosure to reduce weight.
