Yeah exactly. Most of the major manufacturers are offering dual systems now too- I think Kenwood is supporting XM now, even though they were the major Sirius pusher in the beginning. I still prefer XM over Sirius though, at least on paper.

IPODS are still expensive though, they are like 200 bucks. and then the money for the little box for the alpine unit so its gotta be somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 bucks for all that. Ill stick to my burnt CD's thank you. Besides my Headunit reads MP3 discs anyways.

Yeah I'm still 100% XM guy...I really can't wait till this summer when they are adding all MLB radio boardcasts so no matter where you are you can hear your teams boardcasters calling the game. Yes I am a baseball fun...but thats really awesome because out here in Manhattan the Royals boardcast station is crap...I can't wait to get it CD quality.
![]() I know the NFL thing that Sirius has is cool...but I'm never going to be driving during Chiefs games...I'll be watching it on TV...even though we suck. ![]() Quote:

Dan, I think the iPod modules are only $100 retail, so they'll be even cheaper elsewhere. It's definitely a nice bonus if you already have an Alpine deck and an iPod. I guess it's something like having those new Delphi XM portables with all the docking stations- you have one source for your music, but you can plug it in anywhere.

Thats a nice setup but I think the route I went is both cheaper and much easier. I picked up a generic (the main brands have finally, finally started to make these) cd player with a usb port on the front. I picked up a 1gb flash drive on sale at best buy for like 30 bucks. Between two of these and a couple smaller ones I have like well over 3000 songs. Get sick of listing to them, just pop it into your car and change the songs in like 30 secs. To top it off you can record the radio to the usb drive, cd to the usb drive, all on the fly. Plus the unit plays mp3 cds, each one of these storeing hundreds of songs.
Flash memmory's price is dropping so fast, that I believe they will replace cds in the not to distant future. Flash memmory has no moving parts, I put mine though the wash machine twice, ran it over with my car, there almost indestructable. |

There is a new Alpine head unit out where all you need to do is buy an extra cord to hook up your iPod to it.
I have it, it's pretty sweet. |

2 years ago when this thread was new, you had to buy the $100 interface for ipod on an Alpine. Now all you need a $20-$30 cable. |
