what would be the size of the front speakers ina 2001 integra. in my old 91 hatch i put in 6.5 inch speakers and then were to big i couldnt use the plastic peice that came with the stock speakers to prevent the speaker from hitting the glass. im pretty sure on the size of the rears but if u guys know that two it would help.

according to Crutchfields chart.. they have both 5.25's that fit.. as well as 6.5's. But it sounds like your having more of a depth problem then anything... that kinda depends on the speaker model.

You have to cut out the center of the plastic basket in order to get decent 6.5 inch speakers to fit. That's what I did on the Civic. If you don't, you're stuck with really shallow crappy sounding speakers. Once you cut out the basket, you can probably go as deep as 3 inches without any problems. Just make sure all your window seals are in good shape!

basically all i was worried about was depth. to prevent any problems i just bought a pair of slimline speakers for the front. and as for the back the whole kick panel has to be removed to get the speaker out. both are 6.5 inches but 5.25 with fit in both spots but i mean bigger is better haha.

If you're happy with your new setup though- that's all that matters. |

yea well i was originally gonna go out and buy everything last night but that didnt happen the way it was planned. car came with a sony headunit so i was gonna keep that until i could go out and get a decent kenwood. so i went to best buy and they had nothing and then 3 wal marts, i kno it sounds like shit but they actually sell 160 to 220 watt pioneer 3 ways. i mean yea the stuff im gettin isnt incredible but it will have good quality and sound good to a point. i did this in my last car and the car sounded good. its was just cheap, easy and i had a decent stereo. so back to last night, i get home and take off the grill for the speaker and then take the speaker out only to find that there are four wires running to this speaker instead of the usual 2. im like ok so i call up my dad, mechanic, and ask him about it. we then came to the conclusion that because the car has tweeters already the tweeter wires, blue and blue with a stripe, run through the speaker before contiuning on to the tweeter. we could be wrong but thats out best guess. now without a wiring diagram im fucked cuz i only need to cut 2 of the wires. so now im wondering if instead of cutting the wires maybe someone makes a harness for the speakers that i can connect to the honda clip and then run two wires to the speaker so that i dont have to cut wires at all. also if anyone has an audio wiring diagram for a 2001 acura integra ls coupe could u please send it my way lol.
and i agree a really nice 5.25 inch speaker will sound better than i crappy 6.5 inch speaker but i meant ones of the same quality. it seems that i could find the 5.25 but each time they would have a significantly lower output than that of the 6.5 and instead of them being 3 way they were always 2 way. either way im pretty happy with what i bought, pioneer 180 watt 3 way 6.5inch speakers. i just wish i could fit 6x9's in the back again |

You really need to look at the RMS power ratings on the speakers, not the peak power. However- if you're just using head unit power, it doesn't really matter. Any aftermarket speaker will handle all the power an aftermarket head unit can put out.
If you're going to buy Kenwood, stay away from the non-eXcelon stuff. You'd be better off with your Sony than a standard Kenwood. Trust me. You should be able to plug directly into your speaker wiring without needing any clips or harnesses- but if you do, you can get a set of adapters from any stereo installation bay for about $10. |
