Hi. I'm Lauren, Cory, aka CivicHB's, better half. I've been asking him to post this question for me for about a year, but obviously he still hasn't, so I guess I'll have to...
Here is my issue: I have a 97 EX with the stock deck (See picture) The volume control works, but not the right way. If I try to turn it up, the volume goes down, if I try to turn the volume down, it goes up. But, it's not a constant problem, it seems to have it's own mind and determines when it would like to work properly. Also, the numbers above the corresponding buttons seem to work when they feel like it. I got motivated one day, and started to take the deck out, but found out how much of a bitch it would be to get out and stopped before I got angry and broke something. I've asked a few people around, and no one seems to have an answer for me. I would call my local Honda dealer, but I'd have better luck asking my cat. I'm hoping this is an easy fix, because I know Honda wants an arm, leg, $1,000,000, and my first born child for parts.... If anyone has had a similar problem, or any ideas, I'd love to hear them! Thanks!! |

it the dial inside the deck. I used to have one that did it as well.
Heres what i can do for you. Take your deck out of the car. you will see a gray box on top of the head unit ( this is the controler for your keyless entry) take that off. Send me your stock radio and i'll send you a working one at the same time. We are only a state apart so it will only take UPS 1 day (ground shipping)to get it to us. so you will only be out of a radio/keyless entry and your dome light for one day. If you want to do this PM me with your address and let me know when your going to send your and i'll send you a working one. Other then that i think the only thing you can do is hit up Ebay and buy one. Damn i hook up to many people on CL. |

She should be able to stick a flat head screw driver on the right side by that little cubby hole thing and pop the radio right out. there will be like three plugs on the back. 2 for the radio and 1 for the keyless entry unit.

And, I've tried to pop that little din/cubby to the right of the deck out. It doesn't pop out through the front. It seems like it was put in before the trim piece, and I will have to take everything out to get to it... (If I am remembering correctly) |

I've often thought of putting an aftermarket deck in, but I like my changer and don't want to spend the money to get another one. Bottom line, I'm lazy and I'm jewish... |
