Hey I have an Optima Deep Cycle (yellow top) battery that I had in my sunfire and I want to put it in the civic but it doesn't fit in the stock location.. so I want to relocate it to the trunk.. so basically I just have to find a way to mount it back there and run the wires back to it.. my question is that the stock battery is ground to the chassis in the engine compartment.. should I run this back to the battery or could I just ground it to the floor of the trunk or what? Also should I used thicker wire? something like 4 gauge?
Also one more major question.. is the voltage different from a sunfire to a civic? will this battery work? ie. like 12v or 24v... I have no clue about this.. |

wow you treated your sunfire pretty well by having an optima battery in it!

Where's a good spot to ground it in the trunk? In my sunfire the amps were just grounded to the floorboard with a screw.. and 4g wire.. and I had a problem with engine noise coming through the speakers so I don't think it was such a good spot.. I didn't do the install either.. a local shop did it.. thats why I figure I'll do it myself and do it right this time..

just find a good secure bolt. Make sure it has a good solid contact. Sand all of the paint down so that it has a clean connection.
IE.. dont use some dinky screw used to hold your tail light in. lol. make it something that bolts into the body of the car.. if not the chassis. |

oh, and you shouldnt have a problem with the size of the battery. The yellow optimas are excellent batteries.. and since the sunfire was also (i assume) a 4 cylinder.. it should have plenty of power to crank it over.
