or fusible links at the distribution points.

which works better.

plans are:
optima battery
1/0 guage wire

Later on i'll add a battery kill switch.. but for now i just need the battery moved.

I see cheapo kit that just extend the wires (4 guage ) As much as i don't like those kits is that a safe way to relocate your bettery.

Basicly i know what needs to be done.. but since i have never done this before i'm being very cautious.

dont quote me on this, but i believe you need a box for the battery with a vent to the outside for the gases to be released...

Venting is a great idea to improve safety but not too many people go out of the way to do that.

I got to help on a re-location job a few years ago.

Since I worked in a stereo/installation shop we had spools of wire/cable all over the place.

For best resaults, use 2g.

Cut the oem terminal off from the front bat. wire, and when you connect the extention wire on, be sure to use the right terminal for this job.

*there is a terminal that you heat up like crazy and fill with solder, you place the wire into it, heat it back up to bond it together, and repeat on the other side. That way you are guaranteed to have a 100% connection!

You should know the rest from there.

Make sure that loom any of the wire that may pass through holes so it's not as apt to get cut, etc . . .

Good luck.

Do none of the above...Optima just came out with a Compact Battery for Civics and Integras. Thats going to be easier and better then moving the battery anywhere. Check at your local car parts store for the new battery, chances are they are going to have to order it. But in the end it's going to be better then moving the battery else where.

not much help here either huh..

Yeah i know i'll need a box

First off.. optima batteries are sealed so they don't gas...

second.. I HAVE to relocate the battery..(even though i don't have a civic) I need the space open to relocate other stuff so i can fit my front mount intercooler.

Question deals mostly with do i use fusible links.. or a BIG fuse at the battery.. if i used a fuse i would need to run a seperate line for the starter, since it pulls so much power its not supossed to have any kinda fuse AFAIK

Don't throw a fuse were there's not supposed to be on. There's my .02!

Oh . . btw . . must batteries ARE sealed, lol
Optima batteries utaliza a gel wrapped meterial so that there is no leakage of liquids . . . they can still produce gas.

Even if you get a smaller battery, the car still handles better when you move it to the rear. I'll be getting a newer battery AND relocating it at the same time.

I used two (60 amp i believe) fuses and 2 gauge wire to add a 2nd battery (Yellow top Optima) in my trunk.
