As far as I know 96-00 are 6 1/2s all the way around. There will be differences between hatches, coupes and sedans though.

Ok so now I'm not so goddamn sure anymore. I opened my trunk to check out the speaker locations.

I ordered 6 1/2s from Crutchfield because thats what is SUPPOSED to be there.

Well... I have Blaupunkt 6x9s back there. Whoever owned the car before me put some aftermarket speakers in there.

I'm sure I can get the 6 1/2s to fit though, crutchfield sent free adapter plates.

I honestly don't know what they did. I'm gonna try to get to takin the rear seat out so I can get a full view of how they put them in. I'll even take pictures.

yeah i recently found out that the stock speaker sizes are 6X9 in the back 6.5s in the front. i say this with confidence

Honda changed it up for my car then. I found out last night that my front stocks are 5 1/4. I had to do this to get my 6.5s to fit.

whaaaat. thats weird man. only thing i can think of is cause you have the SI model but i dont see why they would change anything for it.

Yeah that has to be the reason. I don't think the lower end Civics have the tweeters either, but I don't know why they'd put smaller speakers in the front for the top of the line model.
