To clarify, the towel is just underneath it, to protect it from the metal of the car and the rubber of the tire, it's not completely wrapped... I ran it all summer like that, never had any problems... hour long drives also... I'm not worried.

That'll work. All amps are different anyway. I've had some that refuse to give up no matter how you abuse them, and other cheapos that overheat no matter how much air you pull across them.

i would watch out puttin the amp where the spare tire is, older hondas tend to be synonomous for leaking water in through the rear tailight gaskets and then it builds up in the spare tire well. thatll be goodnight amp.

Ironically, this has happened to me. I have had my amp in my spare tire well since I've owned the car, which is about 4 years. After some period of time, I noticed the subs were not working. So I checked all the connections on the box and then went to the amp. Noticed the amp was sitting in about 2-3" of water. Well that would explain why it cut out.

Took out the amp, opened her up, and let her dry. Fortunately, my amp is built like a tank and after it dried, it worked perfectly fine ever since.

But yea, watch out for water. It is sneaky sneaky

heh, we actually had water before, leaking through the seal right under the window around the trunk... but we dried it up and resealed the whole thing, so its ok now. It's not on the bottom of the well either, it's like propped up against the tire and the side, it's hard to describe. I'll show a pic when i get my car back this weekend!
