my friend's got like the same exact car ('00 ex coupe) as me except in black. his break lights went out a couple weeks ago. all three went out at the same time. the tail lights still work when you have the headlights on, but the break lights just don't work. the bulbs are fine, so i thought it's probably the wiring. anyone know where i could get a wiring diagram or do you know what we should check? thanks in advance.

i think he looked at them, but i don't really think he knew what to do. i'll tell him to take a closer look.

actually, now that i think about it i don't know were a fuse is for the brake lights. i wonder if it is integrated into the 'tail light' fuse.

now i remember, we looked at the fuses and the diagram had one for tail lights but it didn't show one for brake lights.

To elaborate on what Syn just said, there is something called a "brake switch"
It's located behind the brake pedal up top at the pivot . . when you depress the brake pedal, the upper arm of the brake arm rocks against it causing a pin to be depressed causing a 12v sircut wich then activates the current to your brake lights.
With that said . . if anything there is broken, the lights wont work.
You can figure this out with a 12v test light. Test the switch leads while pushing down on the brake. If you get NO light, then have the switch replaced.
If you DO get light, take the test light and follow the wires to see if there was a short in them somewhere.

Good luck.

When I went in to work today, I relayed your symptoms to my boss and asked for his advise . .
To my suprise, he said that it could be the brake switch as well . .
Damn! Maybe I'm learning something there afterall!

You'll have to hurry up and tell us what it ended up being . . I'm super curious now!!!

If I'm actually right and I helped you, the bossman ows me 10 bux!
If I'm wrong . . well . . I'll lie to him . . what the hell . . I could use a free 10 spot! j/k
