hey all-
i was just looking at the jackson supercharger system. looks sweet and much more efficient than a turbocharger. it also is a lot cheaper (on ebay). it seems too good to be true... i've looked at the dyno sheets for supercharged vs non-supercharged and it's pretty impressive. plus, there isn't lag like there is with turbo. so whats the deal here? what are the negatives about superchargers? thanks |

don't look at the dynos. look at their 1/4 mile times.
the vortech supercharged civic si had 272 peak hp at the wheels and still ran a 14.4 at 98.6 in the quarter. generally speaking, on a honda if you spend the exact same amt of money on a turbocharger and supercharger the turbocharger will be faster. |

Well first off I don't know what other modifications the Vortech supercharged civic had, but 14.4 sounds pretty decent to me if the only thing it has done to it is a supercharger. but thats just my opinion...
do you know more about how that works? i don't understand why the 1/4 time wouldn't be slashed very much if the horsepower has a major increase... hmm. i'll have to do some research. btw man, sweeet car ![]() |

I'm assuming you are still single cam. I would go with a turbo over a JRSC, you'll be faster.

Hmm, looking on ebay, a supercharger kit doesn't look much cheaper than the greddy turbo kit. Maybe I'm just looking at the wrong auctions.
As far as performance, a turbo charger gives better high end performance. Yes, there is the initial lag, but once it kicks in, there is a lot more higher end potential. The supercharger doesn't have a the turbo-lag but isn't capable of what a turbo can do. So, I guess it's up to you what you'd like. I don't have any dyno or track runs to prove either better. If you get a turbo kit though, you can show off your intercooler, and get a super loud blow off valve :P. There are some that make your engine sound like an 18-wheeler hehehh

The JRSC isn't very effective on the SOHC.....or the LS for that matter.

Dude...seriously listen to these guys turbo suits a civic far better then a supercharger, sure theres the inital lag with a turbo, but it's not parasitic as far as where you get your power from so thats kinda nice no drain of power to make power anyway you spend allmost the same amount on a supercharger as you do a turbo and 14's just suck if thats what there hitting with a supercharger a 75 shot on a ex will out do/out do that.

dude a greddy turbo kit is way better than a jackson racing supercharger kit for a civic end of story. Superchargers suck on honda civics. Turbo'ing your civic is alot better believe me my friend has a jackson supercharger and it sucks dick it dosent even pull hard and my friend has a homemade turbo and it is by faaaarr better. Believe me turboing a civic is the way to go end of story! -im in the process of turboing my car right now ill post pics once everything is done. 8 pounds intercooled with the afc hack
