Hey people

I have a question. My civic has 85k as of now. I have never had the timing belt replaced yet. I used to have an integra, and I sold it with 130k and never had the belt replaced either (I knew I was selling it, so I took the chance.)

My sister has a 98 civic ex, and she took it to my friends shop to have a tune up. He checked everything out and couldnt believe her car was still running by the shape her timing belt was in. He said by the looks of it, she should have been on her 3rd one by now. Now I trust this guy, me and all of my import friends have always used him...he tunes hondas & acuras, and has a nice hatchie himself. Is this possible??? I always thought T.B's were good til about 90k. I am wondering if I should get him to check mine out.

I am just wondering, cause I really dont feel like shelling out dough for a new tranny should the need arise

Thanks

make sure you get genuine honda parts....all those knock off shit is crap. You want honda quality, might be more money, but worth it in the long run

get a toda racing timing belt it is 200% stronger than stock timing belt. So you won't have to replave it as often. I think the belt cost $50. not bad

4banging is correct!
I think rule of thumb or at least my thumb is to change it every 100k miles! so I'd say youre good for about another 15k
