could be a few problems i've heard of people popping out of gears from lack of "lube" lol love that word.. so check that first.. aside from that gears might be ate up.. syncro's (sp?)

The tranny in the lude took forever to go out. The new owner drives it that way still, lol
Instead of fixing the problem, he just mashes it in place and holds it.
Not good but it works, haha

like they said above, you should be able to locate a new one pretty inexpensively incase you decide to fix it the right way.
