yes you should replace your shocks also, if not, they will wear prematurely

How low do you want to go? If you have your mind set on about a 2" drop, just get springs and you will be much happier. If you want really low, go with either Ground Control or Skunk2, like mentioned before, what you save on coilovers, you will pay for in ride quality.

I perfer coilovers over springs because of the adjustablity factor. you said you have 17" now and you want a 2" drop you could just get springs, but what happends when you want to go with a smaller rim say a set of 15's then you are going to want to raise it alittle to make up for the differance in rim hight. beau_safken stated that it's the overall size that matters and not just the rims size. This is right and also wrong, you want to keep the overall rim/tire the same to keep your speedo and odo in calibration, but at when talking about hieght overall size doesn't matter. On a bigger rim your car will sit higher even if the overall size of your rim/tire combo is the same as stock. Personally i went with coilovers because in the winter i take my rims off and put my stock 14" steelies back on, when i do this i have to raise the car alittle to make up for the lost hight of the rim.

Tell me what you guys think. I can buy Tokico HP shocks for $219, or I can get the HP shocks with springs for $300. Springs are a 1.75 drop. I don't have rims yet, so I would be pretty low on 14inch huh? I wanna go with 16 or 17 inch rims. Is a 1.75 drop good to go with on those sizes of rims? Or should I just buy the shocks now and get some coilovers later so I wouldn't have to worry about not being happy later?
Thanks for the help, its very much appreciated! |
