hi all, first of all pardon me for lacking of knowledge in car mods. i'm thinking to get a set of 17" rims (17x7, w/ 40 offset) for my 2000 ex. here's my question: is it possible to avoid rubbing or any fender-related problem if i didn't lower the suspension? what kind of tires (in term of dimension) should i get?
i totally agree that lowering will make the car look much more nice but i'm afraid i can't afford the cost. would anyone please explain what's the purpose of lowering besides the aesthetic consideration? any advice would be appreciated and thanks in advance ![]() |

OK
1) You can put the 17's on and nothing will rub if your not lowered, Still will not rub with a 2 1/2 drop either 2) if you have 17x7 rims you should get 205/40-17 3) The main reason you would want to lower your car is 90% of the time you will have better handeling, and be able to turn harder faster with less body roll/ 4 And just to give you a idea what it looks like. the pic in my sig is my 96 with 17x7 and 205/40-17 with about 1 1/2 to 2 inch drop. |

And to add on to this thread, just so you understand, lowering the car will increase your chances of rubbing because you will be bringing more of the tire into the fenders' zones. But like smooth said, with a 17" wheel you won't rub either way.

my thoughts are if you go w/ a 16" or 17" wheel lower the car first. if money is tight buy the components one month at a time. otherwise you will look like this moron. ![]() |

my konig 17 imagens (new) 900 + 350 in tires.. do the math lighter/smaller wheel cheaper and you can lower for the same overall price |
