Would it be possible to replace the transmission of a 1994 Honda Civic EX Coupe Automatic to a 5-speed manual. I found a car that I really like and sadly its only automatic and I was really hoping to get a manual. And I wasnt sure if it was possible to replace the trans with a manual. And if this is possible how much would it cost and where could I get to get this done. Thanx in advance.

Could you give me a price with parts and labor all together if possible. I'll look around for a place that would do that kind of work. But, what kind of place should I look for that could do it? Like the type of place I would need to look for in a phonebook.

Now if I did switch from auto to manual would I notice a change in preformance, I would hope I would. In other words, is it worth the money. Would it have the same preformance of the stock manual or possible greater preformance. If any one would care to take a look at the two I have picked out here are the links.
Here and Here If any one could give me an opinion on which I should get I would greatly appreciate it. Thanx in advance. -Colin |

Your not going to get more hp out of an auto to manual swap. You just get more control of the RPM's though. It will feel faster and respond quicker off the line if you shift properly.

By the time you pay for labor, pedals, the tranny, oil line, motor mount, ecu, linkage, and whatever I didn't mention, you will end up spending at least $1000 to $1300. Basically, unless if the car is perfect, has a clean title, and doesn't cost more than $2500, you are better off to wait for a 5 speed Civic for $3500. Also, if you do care about performance, definitly don't go with a auto. You lose so much power through the tranny.
