I'm not too new. I'm just lookin for a JDM Z6 motor. I thought that was the same one the other guy is lookig for. I was told by a Honda tech that the JDM Z6 should drop right in. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have never really heard it referred to as the JDM z6 motor. The only motors i know that ARE JDM are the OBD-0 and OBD-1 Zc's and the JDM d15 Vtec.Just go out and find a US d16.
Essentially the way i understand it is the Zc is the JDM equivalent to the US d series.I don't think there is much difference. Here is some info i dug up... Quote:

WoW!! Thank you very much. I hate being missinformed. Threre is no JDM D16Z6? Century Honda is gonna get a peice of my mind tomorrow. Help me out here. What will drop in besides a USDM D16 or what are other possibilities without going over $2500? Keep in mind I wouldn't want to build on an engine with 146,000 miles on it.

Almost any d-series motor should drop right in.I have a 2nd gen (DOHC)Zc and it bolted right up.It is the only Zc that will bolt up to a 5th gen civic.Once you go to b series then you are looking at new mounts,axels,tranny,etc...
If you don't want a d series motor and want something affordable,go b18b.That one is non vtec,or you could go b16a1,but that is a cable type transmission and it is the cheapest of the b series vtec swaps. IF there is a JDM d16z6 motor,it is not any different than ours. |

I don't wanna sound like I want an easy way out. But with me getting married and having a baby soon and getting a new apartment, I'm kinda strapped for cash. If I can get an engine, parts ect. Think me and a friend can get it done in a weekend?

Don't settle for something just because, save up and wait for the right time.Do it right and get what you want the first time around. Plus i think doing it in a weekend is rushing it,especially since (not to sound rude)you do sound not very knowledgable yet about it. I'll tell you my motor swap cost me total 1500.Thats just the engine with labor. My motor, DOHC Zc,was a direct bolt in,non vtec and i used my stock tranny. You also need to decide, research and figure out what you want. I've had my hatch nearly 4yrs an it is just gettign to the point where i am almost 100% happy and finished with it.It takes time and patience.Just don't go rushing into it,esp if you are strapped for cash. |
