The condition of the exterior of my car right now is pretty bad. I have a large dent from getting hit almost 2 years ago on my rear quater, a cracked back bumper, paint drips from previous owner ( some damage that i am unaware of), a large dent in my hood, rust spots and a lot of dings, dents and scratches. So I was thinking of having my friend fix the large dent that i have and some of the little things. He said he'd do it for next to nothing. and my roomate works at a junk yard and can get me a new bumper cover. so my thinking is that i can fix that stuff for not too much money. now comes the part of a paint job. i realy don't want to spend alot of money because my car sits at home for most of the year while i am at college. so i was thinking of just getting a cheap $500-600 paint job from macco. i know what you guys are gonna say, it sucks, but it can't be any worse than it is now. so any suggestions would be appreciated.

For 5-600 it will look like a 5-600 dollar paint job. You get what you pay for. But, for your situation I'd do it too. Of course, I don't really care how the condition of my car is as long as it's not rotted- I just want it to move like hell. So I even repaint my bumpers every year with spray cans. Nobody can tell unless you feel it. So go ahead, it'll still come out better than mine!

I had my first car painted by Macco. It looked OK for about a year, than slowly the paint started to fade and turn cloudy. Now I say slowly but it was much faster than it should have been. Eventually the paint started to chip badly and than cracked up because it was seperating from the paint below. Later I found out that they don't actually sand and primer they scratch your existing paint to make the new paint adhere better and than use a cheap spray paint primer. If your friend can fix dents maybe he can sand and primer to. If thats the case I would recomend having him do that, go to a better paint shop and have them paint only.

My car came with a paint job from maaco and it looks pretty good, Its only been on for about a month though, its worth it to put a lot of time into the prep of the car, i was suprised that my car was painted at maaco, its black with a blue pearl, wouldnt think somethin like that would be at maacco

i would take your 5-600...and save it. live with how it looks until you can afford to do it right. you will be wasting your 600 to get a shitty paint job. if you save it instead, and do it right, you will be much happier in the long run.

If your gonna do that mine as well have someone steal it.. strip it, Take the check and buy aftermarket parts. Do this to anything older than a 98 civic and they will total your car out.. My advice is drive near idiots, brake hard periodicly and hopefully you will get your new bumper and and all your paint. |

Dude seriously dont spend the 5-600 dollars to get a cheap paint job, dont get me wrong I have seen some ok paint jobs roll out of there, and I have seen some shitty ones. But maaco paint jobs dont last that long vs. a professional paint job. So do it right the first time vs. paying someone again to do it.
