Didn't get many hits on the general tech Forum, so;
On my '97 Civic's Coupe EX, the fuel gauge swings to empty at times, then returns, on level highway. Happened today at a stop sign! Most of the time it swings +/- quarter tank especially when I go around corners.
It happens at all levels of gas in tank.
Any opinions?
Thanks,
Bob

It's just the level of the car. The fuel will swish back and forth in the tank, but the sensor seems to be toward the backside of the tank because when the car is uphill it will show more gas and vice versa.

It's fine, nothing wrong.

you know on my 98 ex...if i take left turns it gets more fuel, right turns less fuel, accelerating less fuel and braking more fuel...so that would mean the sensor is probably in the front somewhere. Its normal on hondas...they do it a lot and it depends on how much gas you have on how much it will sway.
