would you do the work or would you want a shop to? you can defnitely get the swap itself for less than 2500...shipped.

as for installs, where do you live? call some shops in your area and find out, sometimes they can get you a better deal if you let them order the motor. but overall expect between 500-1000 for install depending on your location.

The CX was made strictly for fuel economy. My CX hatch (when stock) got over 40 MPG. It was a great commuter car (I drive 95 miles one-way to work) but sucked for trying to jump out in rush hour traffic. When I got my B16 swap I put roughly about $4000 in it. (swap, labor, misc other parts) If you're looking for a cheap swap, go with an SI swap from the 5th gens, that would be a big power increase over the stock CX motor. If you're looking for a cheap swap with some more power, go with a B18B, it's cheaper than a B16 and doesn't have VTEC, but would still be a big power difference over stock.
